Funded Functional Skills Support Webinar
NHS England are holding a virtual event on Microsoft Teams on Tuesday 16th July 2024, 10am-11:30am.
The webinar will cover all aspects of the funded functional skills support.
This is appropriate for both those colleagues who have never accessed this support before and those interested in a refresher because the contracts have been recently renewed. They will focus on learner readiness so that you can best support your learners to take this step at the best time for them and you. One Advanced (formally bksb) who provide self-study software and Open Awards, who provide exams will both be presenting. There will also be opportunity to ask questions and hear about the Skills for Life network, which supports this portfolio of work.

Live streaming of SfC launch event of ASC Workforce Strategy
Skills for Care has been leading the development of this Workforce strategy, working in collaboration with a wide range of organisations and people with a stake in the future of the adult social care sector. The strategy identifies the workforce needed over the next 15 years and sets out a plan for ensuring the sector has enough of the right people with the right skills. It will help employers and commissioners with workforce planning, support the reform agenda and complement the NHS Long Term Workforce Plan.
A launch event in London will be a celebration of the culmination of this work. SfC will be streaming live from the launch event.
The co-chairs of the workforce strategy steering group, Oonagh Smyth and Sir David Pearson, will unveil the strategy and share the main points from it. You will also hear from a range of voices from across the sector, including frontline care workers and those who draw on care and support.

Expressions of Interest now open for the NHS England regional Multi Professional Student Council
Please see the opportunity below for NMC and HCPC degree apprenticeship learners. NHSE are now recruiting for the 2024 cohort of the regional Multi Professional Student Council (MPSC) in the North East and Yorkshire. The aim for the student council is to develop a group of regional undergraduates from all NMC and HCPC registered professions to get involved in various projects to enhance patient/staff care, provide a student voice for placements and retention, highlight/promote good practice and challenge areas of practice that require development.
We will also be offering council members the opportunity to develop leadership skills and potentially gain practice hours from meetings, placements, development sessions and projects (subject to further discussions with relevant staff from university and placement providers).
Please note that the deadline for expressions of interest is 9am on July 25th and shortlisting will take place on August 12th and 13th. As also noted on our expression of interest form, membership of the council is subject to approval from a relevant university course lead.

NHS Estates and Facilities T Level Working Group – 9th July 2024, 11am-12pm (online)
The national estates and facilities team are building a community of practise to help NHS EFM staff from across many NHS Trusts through planning and delivery of T Level industry placements.
If you are interested in joining, please come along to the first working group, where we will hear from;

We will also be joined by the Royal Academy of Engineering and Gatsby Charitable Foundation, who will be sharing the support they offer and giving examples of methods that have worked to support employers across engineering and also into clinical roles within the NHS Trusts.
